(Twee maanden later op 28 december 1895 tonen de Franse zakenlieden en filmpioniers De gebroeders Lumière hun films in het Salon Indien van het Grand Café aan de Boulevard des Capucines in Parijs. Dit wordt over het algemeen beschouwd als de eerste betaalde publieke vertoning van een film, maar in feite waren de gebroeders Skladanovsky in Berlijn hen voor. Hun toestel was echter inferieur aan dat van de Lumières. Met hun show maken de broers Lumière een succesvolle tournee, waarmee ze over de gehele wereld trekken. Op 12 maart 1896 zijn ze in Amsterdam. Met de uitvinding van de cinématographe, ‘s werelds eerste projectieapparaat, zijn zij één van de grondleggers van de cinematografie.)
