Mattingly (piloot commando-module). De maanwagen wordt ook bij deze missie gebruikt en uitvoerig getest. Tijdens deze missie wordt er bijna 96 kg aan monsters van de maan mee terug genomen naar de aarde. Op 27 april 1972 komen de astronauten terug naar de aarde en landen in de 345 km ten zuidoosten van Kersteiland in de Stille Oceaan. De capsule wordt tentoongesteld in het U.S. Space and Rocket Center te Huntsville, Alabama. De maanlander sloeg na ongeveer een jaar stuk op het maanoppervlak.)
