(Twee dagen later op 7 juni 1926 wordt de beroemde Spaanse architect Antoni Gaudí tijdens een wandeling aangereden door een tram. Hoewel hij erg bekend is, kennen weinigen hem van gezicht. Taxichauffeurs weigeren het sjofel geklede slachtoffer naar het ziekenhuis te brengen. Drie dagen later overlijdt hij. Op 12 juni is zijn begrafenis en de rouwstoet is wel een kilometer lang. Hij wordt begraven in de crypte van de Sagrada Familia. Rond 1900 ontwierp Gaudí een aantal markante gebouwen en andere objecten in Barcelona en daarbuiten, waarvan de Sagrada Familia de bekendste is. Hij wordt beschouwd als een van de grondleggers van de organische architectuur. Zijn werk valt onder de Art Nouveau/Jugendstil.)

(De Carmina Burana is een compositie van Carl Orff. Carmina Burana is een niet-middeleeuwse compositie in geheel eigen stijl. Hij selecteerde in 1935 een aantal liederen uit de middeleeuwse Carmina Burana en schreef er zijn eigen muziek bij. Orff schreef het stuk origineel voor solisten, koor, twee vleugels en slagwerk. Later herschreef hij de instrumentatie van Carmina Burana naar één voor een geheel symfonieorkest. Op 8 juni 1937 is de wereldpremière van de Carmina Burana in de Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main. Het grootste technische obstakel is volgens de Philips-uitgave Tien jaar televisie in Nederland uit 1958, het verschil in lijnenstelsels. De Engelse televisie gebruikt 405 beeldlijnen, in Frankrijk heeft men het systeem van 819 lijnen, in overig West-Europa 625 lijnen. In het Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium ontwikkelt men een zogenaamde lijnenvertaler, die met groot succes wordt ingeschakeld bij de eerste Eurovisie-uitzending.)

Het doel van de UEFA is het organiseren van kampioenschappen op Europees niveau en de belangen van de Europese clubs in het algemeen te behartigen. De Europacup voor landskampioen, bekerwinnaars en de UEFA Cup zijn enkele competities die door de UEFA worden bedacht. Het hoofdkantoor wordt in Parijs gevestigd, maar verhuist in 1959 naar het Zwitserse Bern.)
