(Vandaag precies 51 jaar geleden op 3 september 1966 wordt door de VARA op Nederland 2 de eerste aflevering van Ja Zuster, Nee Zuster uitgezonden. Elke aflevering heeft een afgerond verhaal en begint met het beroemde lied: Niet met de deuren slaan…ja zuster….nee zuster…. Deze serie over “een rusthuis vol herrie” is geschreven door Annie M.G. Schmidt en de muziek is van Harry Bannink. De hoofdrol wordt gespeeld door Hetty Blok, zij is Zuster Klivia. Leen Jongewaard speelt Gerrit, Dick Swidde is “de boze buurman” Boordevol, Carla Lipp speelt Jet, John Kuppers is Bobby en Barry Stevens kruipt in de huid van Bertus. Vanaf de zevende aflevering zijn er gastrollen voor o.a. Jan Blaaser, Koos Postema, Johan Kaart, Ko van Dijk, Hans Boskamp en Luc Lutz. Wim Sonneveld speelt in de zestiende aflevering (op 24 februari 1968) zes verschillende figuren. De laatste aflevering wordt op 7 september 1968 uitgezonden. Hierin speelt Albert Mol een gastrol als de boetiekhouder Wouter. Andere beroemde liedjes uit de serie zijn o.a.: Mijn Opa, Wilt u een stekkie van de fuchsia, In een rijtuigie, De Twips, Stroei, Voei en De kat van Ome Willem. In oktober 2002 komt er een speelfilm in de bioscoop. In de filmversie van Ja zuster, Nee zuster speelt Loes Luca de rol van Zuster Klivia.)

(Op 7 september 1966 maakt Johan Cruijff zijn debuut voor het Nederlands voetbalelftal in het EK-kwalificatieduel tegen Hongarije (2-2). Het is volgens voetbalhistoricus Matty Verkamman de geboorte van het totaalvoetbal. De film van de wedstrijd is gerestaureerd en gedigitaliseerd. Omdat het originele commentaar van destijds van Herman Kuiphof niet bewaard is gebleven, is de film voorvertoond aan Kuiphof en de destijds eveneens bij de wedstrijd aanwezige Verkamman.)

(Eveneens op 7 september 1966 wordt de Schipholtunnel voor het autoverkeer opengesteld. De tunnel is aangelegd als zogeheten open bouwput tunnel. De Schipholtunnel heeft 8 buizen, die samen 18 rijstroken en een fietspad bevatten. Daarmee is de Schipholtunnel de breedste tunnel van Nederland. De Schipholtunnel maakt onderdeel uit van de autosnelweg A4 tussen Badhoevedorp en luchthaven Schiphol en loopt onder de Buitenveldertbaan door.)

(Op 8 september 1966 wordt door de Amerikaanse omroep NBC de eerste aflevering (The Man Trap) van de science fiction serie Star Trek uitgezonden. In de series komen gewone universele menselijke dilemma’s aan de orde tegen de achtergrond van een fictieve toekomst. De series spelen zich voornamelijk af op ruimteschepen waarmee de Melkweg wordt verkend en op planeten die door de bemanningen bezocht worden.)
