(Eén week later op vrijdag 13 september 1918 verongelukt er een trein nabij Weesp. Tot dan toe is het de tweede grootste treinramp uit de Nederlandse geschiedenis. De trein rijdt in de richting van Amsterdam als hij over de brug van het Merwedekanaal moet rijden. Vlak voor de brug zakt de trein weg en stort enkele meters naar beneden. Niemand van het treinpersoneel is gewond en zij verlenen direct eerste hulp aan reizigers, ze worden bijgestaan door een chirurg en vier nonnen die in de trein zitten. Een groep militairen die zich toevallig in de omgeving bevinden snellen te hulp. Toch komen er bij de ramp 41 mensen om het leven en raken er 42 gewond. De oorzaak van de treinramp is het wegzakken van de spoordijk die verzwakt is door de vele regen die de dag ervoor is gevallen.)

(Acht weken later op 25 oktober 1918 breken in het militaire kampement De Harskamp op de Veluwe ernstige ongeregeldheden uit. Al geruime tijd heerst er ontevredenheid onder de manschappen over de slechte kantine-exploitatie en over te weinig eten. Als zaterdag tegen 4 uur een stelletje belhamels de soldatenkantine begint te plunderen en de boel in brand steken is de muiterij compleet. Het moet er enige tijd een geweldige janboel zijn geweest. De muiters schieten of rammeien met knuppels de boel in elkaar. De officieren zijn de macht kwijt. Er worden 2500 man het kamp uitgejaagd of vluchten naar alle windstreken. Door alle onrust in Europa breekt nu ook in Nederland de angst uit voor een revolutie.)
